Visual XLobby Skin

The reason I ask is that when I use v0.20 combined with a 640x480 resolution I could see all the text on the buttons on the music pages. With the new skin. They get squished. "Open" becomes "Op", "Up" becomes "U" and such. I think because a new button or two was added. Do you have any idea how new a version I can use that doesn't have that problem?

Ahh, yes. I had redesigned lower buttons and elements so i had to make 4 radio buttons smaller... if i remember correctly, they are now 72 pixels wide :-)

Anyway... what you can do is reduce font size. The style used in ALL radio buttons is called BUT-radio (or similar, I don't have xlobby now in front of me to check) so just by changing font size should be enough...

I just uploaded v049. It is changed so that it uses latest changes to the category... I also added support for preview in movies/videos sections via XMoveWindow and Media Player Classic. Also updated Help a bit...

Go to http://www.freewebs.com/lanik/index.htm and click on Download link.

Now everything's in 1 archive (around 6mb)

I think you have a cool Xlobby skin - but your ISP... :roll:

- took over an hour to download your skin.
I hope you don't mind but I copied your latest version (Visual_V049.zip) to the Xlobby server to make it easier for everyone to download.
If they download it from here:
http://www.xlobby.com/files/dalanik/Skins/Visual_v049.zip
with a broadband connection the download should only be about 6 minutes.

Well, yes... I know... I simply can't ftp to the xlobby site from my office, because of the security (almost) everything is blocked on cisco... I just used the first free web space I could find...

funny it uploads pretty fast... :-)

Anyway, thanx for uploading it! If only you (or steven) could change the link on the skin page (http://www.xlobby.com/Downloads/DALanik) to the newest version, it'd be great!

DALanik,
The 'http://www.xlobby.com/Downloads/' directory is reserved for StevenHanna's files. Right now, all skins go in the skinners directories. IE: //xlobby.com/files/dalanik, //xlobby.com/files/colby, //xlobby.com/files/badabing, //xlobby.com/files/jowaldo, etc.

I like the concept of the layout.
But for my personal taste I like less cluttered (busy) screen.

... too many large buttons.

Well, yes. That is the biggest problem, wheather to add functionality (and get clutter) or keep it nice and simple...

Hi D,

I think your skin is great. I works really well with the Simpad. I'm interested in PowerPro. Does this work on the client (ie the Simpad)

Can you post version 0.50 on the FTP link?

No, PowerPro is for Win32 only (9x/2K/XP)...

I'm still not finished with the new version. But there will be only a few changes in 0.50

* weather (finaly) updated for XoapWeather
* new main screen
* script for downloading photos slightly updated

I'll try finishing it until this week end.

A bit later than planned, but there... :-)

New version (v050) available at

Changes:

* subtitle handling all in xlobby now via VBS script and XEvent plugin
* changed concept of main menu screen(s)
* added next/previous page/item on all category screens (only to be used with mouse or touch-screen - not navigable via keyboard or remote)
* weather updated for XoapWeather (not on main screen)
* changed timings (increased) for button anti-repeat in girder visual.gml file
* in videos section, you can view whole folders (all files in sub folders) in preview window (with MPC)

One thing that I like very much on your skin, is to have different ways to display the same information (different screens to display the same information) for mainscreen, music, movies, pics, videos … that is very nice.

my opinion about some descriptions on your screens, like for "help" screens, may be you should display them on the top of the "rectangle" not behind, in the aim of displaying them more clearly...
