Open & Close Winamp on Music only - Newbie

Postby spudgun on Thu Nov 25, 2004 11:49 am

Hi,

Xlobby is sooooooooo cool.

I've set up Xlobby the way I want it - up till now I've only used it for music.

Now I want to venture into movies so I've invested in Zoomplayer, downloaded all codecs and intergrated it into Xlobby.

Now - the problem is that Winamp automatically opens at Xlobby startup.

I'm sure there was a Thread/Sticky telling me how to get round this (ie only open Winamp when needed & close again) so there are no Zoomplayer conflicts, and since I didn't need it at the time, I ignored it.

Of course, now I need it, I can't find the thread?

Any help please???

Thanks in advance

You should not get any conflicts between ZoomPlayer and WinAmp.
I have Xlobby start WinAMP on loading and have it always open in the background, then when I play a movie ZoomPlayer is launched and on completion closed.

Have you noticed a conflict?

If WinAmp is not always open I believe it would slow down the operation of playing/queuing of tunes.

thanks gamejester,

I haven't noticed a conflict as I haven't started using Zoomplayer yet!!

It's just that I'm sure I read (thought I read!) somewhere on the forum that there was a way of shuting down Winamp when exiting the music page and starting Winamp only when entering music page.

I'm only curious as it would appear that now I want to read the article, it has disappeared!!!

Does anyone remember this or have a link??

Please???

This feature was in xlobby back in the day, but I beleve it was removed since there shouldnt be any conflicts, and the ability to have winamp be running completely "silent" when not in use You might wan tto ask steven if he'll bring it back if it's that big a deal for you. But like I said I havent heard of an conflicts, especially with the file types feature running strong. You should be able to redirect any problems if they arrive through there (if they are say zoomplayer playing a file opened from the music screen) but the more I think of it, I dont htink that can happen since the music section is tied to winamp(or foobar) and nothing else. Good luck though, keep us posted if you run into an trouble!

thanks to both of you - I'm going to try Zoomplayer with my movies.

As a side-line: what's the best method in your humble opinion of ripping my DVD collection to hard-drive?
DVD shrink of DVD Decrypter?
And, here's the biggie... how do I do it if I want to preserve the whole disk (ie menus & all)???

thanks

Not to hijack the thread, but htis may be a related question...

Do you close ZP because of overlay conflicts?

I am trying to use Sage for TV and ZP for DVD. I guess overlay makes the vdeo conflicts more common???

I do not close ZoomPlayer because of any conflicts, I use it as a method to pass focus. Within Zoomplayer under player options, under settings on the toggles TAB I set 'On Play complete' to 'close player'; when I select a movie zoomplayer starts fullscreen, therefore covering xlobby, when finished zoomplayer closes and xlobby is revealed.

As far as ripping a movie to the hard drive for viewing, if you have enough disc space, rip it with DVDdecryptor. Set the Mode to ISO write, then it will make an ISO image that is an exact copy of the original (this could be ~9 gig). Then to play, mount the image with Demean tools, this can be configured in xlobby so the process of playing the film is seamless.
