Z-Wave Technology

How many users are interested in Z-Wave technology and would like to see xLobby interface with it. There is a continued movement with this technology and it was obvious at this years CES.

I haven't picked my interface yet for lighting and HVAC (Zigbee, insteon, Lutron, or Z-Wave.. etc) however I have considered z-wave in the past. Integrability and cost to XL is my key focus. I do not have first hand experience with anything other then X10 (and I can say that I am not interested that) ;)

Z-Wave seems solid. I will be back reading this post to hear about others experience an options.

I've read up a bit on z-wave in the past and it seems like a great technology. I would be interested in it.

i'll go either way.
whatever gets integrated the best i will use. no preference at the moment.
but i do have dozens of x10 modules around :)

is there a calrad doorbell, or some kind of doorbell that can run an event when pushed.
i put a video camera at my front door and it takes pictures every few seconds.
i want to have xlobby run an event of opening a page when the doorbell is rung,
the page will display the front door camera so i can view the image.
have it pop up on all the TV's in the house, i can do it now manually, but i would like it triggered by the doorbell.

if zwave is used, i can also trigger a light to turn on when doorbell is pushed, this way the camera has good lighting.
i know it's a bit off topic here, but it is linked in to the lighting
:)

After reviewing many of the technoligies I have decided on z-wave. I wanted a technology that was support by a number of manufactures. UPB is only supported by a few. Insteon has quite a few members but I think zwave has a stronger list of manufactures. I am going with the leviton Visa RF + system that does both RF and zwave.

Wes please consider this for a future lighting interface.

Thanks Larry

I know they take a bad rap, but I've been using x10 stuff for a couple years. Others have reported problems but with a signal booster and a couple filters mine have been almost 100% reliable. I have over 50 of the various lamp and switch models in a two story 3,800 home.

My two cents....

no more features until XL V3 is stabil and all features that are suppose to work does work... THEN add new features.

Wow, no one is ever happy ! :? , just mesing around  . I just wanted to know because we are almost finished with the generic RS232 interface and wanted some feedback from everyone about what they use or plan on using. Also we have a few partners that have Z-Wave technology and they want us to use it with xLobby.

Ok back to work !

i love 232, i would choose that over all.
where i can't i'm stuck with IR, but i would love to convert everything to 232
no missed IR blasts when your hardwired with serial connections.

We have had KNX lighting, etc. working for a month or so now. Complete integration of the standard should be finished at the end of March 2009.
