Resolution for Skin Development?

Postby Naylia on Fri Apr 08, 2005 1:06 pm

Hey guys,

Started working on my first few from scratch screens last night and was wondering if there are any good reasons not to develop at 640x480? The screens seem to scale up very well to higher resolutions, but I notice that when I develop at high resolutions and scale down text doesn't always fit. What do you guys think? Is the only reason to develop in a higher res to easily give yourself access to more real estate at the resolutions you personally use the most?

I did mine at 800x600 cuz that is what my projector uses. It scales either way pretty good most of the time, as long as its a 4x3 resolution. Some of the buttons look kinda grainy though if its scaled too much.

The biggest decision is to use 4x3 or 16x9.. most skins don't scale perfectly back and forth.

yeah i figured I'd start with 4:3 then modify to take advantage of the 16:9 extra space available
