Help with USB-UIRT

Postby Tracie on Mon Oct 11, 2004 12:54 am

I cannot for the life of me figure out how to set this up. Can someone give me a basic walkthrough to get me started on this? I was hoping to start with basic commands with Xlobby & stay away from Girder for the time being. I'm using the latest non-exp version of Xlobby & I've got both an Airboard & HTM MX-500 that I would like to use with this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

This could be a bit of the blind leading the blind because I'm having some problems with IR too but I'm a little further on than you so.....

In the IR Plugin Tab, 1st create a new device for each of the items you either want Xlobby to receive from or transmit to, so add one for your receiver and your choice of software dvd player.

Once you have learnt the codes in you goto the event manager, click on the appropriate command and then trigger, ir and then from the alias box choose your prelearnt device and then in the command box the learnt button.

Hi John,
Thanks for your reply. Okay, that makes sense, but I'm getting no joy. Can you tell me, when you are looking at that screen in the setup menu, above the Device/New Device tabs, there is a drop-down menu that says "IR Plugin" & then a spot to the right that says "Status". Is there supposed to be anything in those spots? Mine are empty, but I know that the UIRT is functioning correctly because I've been in contact with their support to be sure.

In the IR Plugin Tab, 1st create a new device for each of the items you either want Xlobby to receive from or transmit to, so add one for your receiver and your choice of software dvd player.

So does this mean that I need to create a new device for the remote that I'm trying to use or can I use one of the default devices for that? And I need to create a new device for my software DVD player (sorry, that one doesn't make sense to me)?

In IR plugin it should have USB-UIRT, in Status its blank.

Yeah, a device for each item you want to control, so if your using a MX-500 which I guess is a bit of a Pronto all in one device, its probably split into subdevices of a amp, dvd player, stb, etc, assuming you use a software dvd player?? you'd have to teach xlobby the commands that you use in your MX-500. If that still doesn't make sense I'll try again?

Thanks John, yes that makes sense. I think my problem is that the IR plugin isn't showing up in that drop-down menu at all, so it won't learn anything or keep any codes that I try to paste in. Steven, you out there?

Tracie,
Did you ever get this working? I had the same problem in that the IR plugin was not showing up in the dropdown. Adding the latest USBUIRT dll to the Xlobby directory fixed it for me. Here is a link to the file:http://www.usbuirt.com/latestapidriver.zip
It needs to be in your Xlobbby directory. Hope this helps.

Thanks BB, but I never did get it working. In my impatience, I started on Girder & got everything going that way. Hopefully others will benefit from the tip though.

I installed the latestdriver.zip version you posted of the USBUIRT dll in the Xlobby folder and Xlobby still doesn't find the driver. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
