Fresh start?

Postby mastr on Sun Nov 07, 2004 7:23 am

Hi,
I have run Xlobby for some time on my PC. However, after I sínstalled zoomplayer and also made a copy of the skin (mediaex) Xlobby stopped working. Well it started, but:
1) The set-up dialog window is to small - all controls are not shown
2) The music database is some how corrupt - it seems alright if you look at it in the Database editor but in the skin (music page) only a few albums are shown and no cover art
3) The overlay in the music pages is corrupt - only fragments of the "song-picker" is shown.

Well, no harm done I haven't really made any changes I can re-install the whole thing. My problem is after completely removeing Xlobby (by completely I mean removing and delting the Xlobby folders and files) and re-installing Xlobby the promlems persist :!:

What should I do the get a fresh and clean start with Xlobby?

and secondly - when I start make changes to a skin how do I back-up them to make sure that I don't loose them? (If Xlobby sease to work and I need to do a re-install)

Yes, I have tried the the latest exe as well. I didn't help, I still had the same problem. I have noticed another problem as well - if I select an album and the leave the (non working overlay screen) the album view is destoryed and only shows the same album (several copies) and no cover art.

I mean the funny thing is that everything worked fine with the pre14 release found on the download page. So I just want to start over - remove everything and the install the whole thing again.

Is there any funny setting in the .Net framework that hold/cache settings for xlobby?

Huh that sounds weird... as far as backing up the skin is concerned, it is enough to copy the whole skin folder under c:\program files\xlobby\skins and then i.e. visual.v049 folder.

Yepp, it is really weird. I'm trying to figure out how it can reatin the (malicious) settings. I obviously remove all files, but are there any settings in the registry, any init file in any other directory or any .Net setting that can have any effect like the described?

BTW, I'm running Win XP pro.
