I need some advice on how to save the episodes onto my HD so I can build my TV database. Is there a good application to do this?

I created a TVSeries database, then used the the sub-items feature to create a structure like this
Code: Select all
Friends - Series
Lost - Series
The Simpsons - Series
|->The Simpsons - Series 01
|->The Simpsons - Series 02
|->|-> stills
     |-> S2e01 - Episode 1 Title
     |-> S2e02 - Episode 2 Title
             |->Plot etc

my folders on the HD are structured the same.

Then, using Jowaldo's skin, I made a copy of all the Movie pages & events, and renamed them for TVSeries category.

It works well except for some minor problems ( see feature request http://www.xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3650 ,

myth,

What do you do about a DVD having all the episodes in one vob file? I have a couple series that split each episode into seperate files, but another is just one vob file. Any recommendations?

I suppose you could either use a program like dvdshrink to re-author the dvd, so that each iso image only had one episode, or a program like Dr DivX ( or equivalent xVid program ) to create individual *.avi episodes

This is what I currently do (individual XviD files), though I'm thinking about changing it. I just found Xlobby, but it's a pain to browse through files and directories when I could just as easily rip the whole DVD. It'd take more space, but probably be a lot easier to use with Xlobby.

Yes, it is a bit of a pain, esp in the setting up bit, which is why I put in a couple of feature requests (see http://www.xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3650 ,
&
http://www.xlobby.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3614 .

Unfortunately Stephen has other things on his mind at the moment, and there hasnt been a lot of support for my requests from others
