Help each other out

Fujitsu 510 Touchpad

Postby Bill Lott on Thu Sep 30, 2004 10:19 pm

Anyone got xLobby to run on a 510 Touchpad?

I'd love to be able to run the "fat Client" but it hangs on loading... I am unable to get the "thin Cient" to connect with the server.

Thanks.

As I understand it the "thin" is xlobby2d.ex while "fat" is actually running the xLobby program but accessing the data on the server.

Glad to hear yoy have it working correctly, it gives me hope! I'm still unable to connect to the server, but I';; keep trying. Are you running Win 98 or 95?

Bill, what OS are you using on your Touchpad? At the very least, the thin client should work...

I'm running Win98. I've loaded and reloaded both Windows and .net framework but am still unable to get the "thin" client to connect to the server.

If I attempt to load the xLobby.exe is hags on the loading splash screen. I tried removing the plugins but it still will not load. I have the maximun amount of memory ( I think its 32 meg) that the Fujitsu will use but qwas wondering if this is enough to run xLobby.

Thanks for help.

Bill, by any far out chance, do you have another PC or pocketPC to try to test your thin client setup? I would believe that if my measly Ipaq PPC can function as a thin client, your Win98 PC should too. I hate to ask what may be painfully obvious to you but:
-is the Xlobby2sd app and servers doc in the same folder?
-did you double check to make sure the IP Address in the servers doc is the correct address of your server?
-did you "start" the server in Xlobby?

As for running Xlobby on the touchpad, where in the splash screen does it hang? I have recently found that improperly changing certain files in a stable Xlobby setup can cause it to hang while loading. This can be corrected by seeing where it hangs (ie. hanging while "loading:database") and fixing that folder (ie checking to make sure that you did not improperly import a database with the wrong address)
Good luck and please post back with your findings.

Still Struggling...

Postby Bill Lott on Wed Nov 10, 2004 5:40 pm

OK. I just reloaded windows, .net framework, and xlobby. Still no luck.

I'm runing the client on a small laptop and it works perfectly - but I still can't get it to load on the Fujitsu 510.

If I try the "client" it never does "anything" . The hour glass appears, a light flashes indicating the hard drive is busy, and then all goes quiet -hour glass disappears, hard drive goes back to being idle, but nothing appears to load.

If I try to run xlobby directly the splash screen hangs at "loading setup".

I'm able to access the web, link to Homeseer, and email with no problem fom this touchpad. Even NetRemote will work; but for some reason not xlobby - the platform I really want to use.

I could sure use some help and suggestions as I'm running out of ideas.

THANKS!!!!

is there a way to start xlobby so it writes to a log?
If there isn't it would be a good feature request.

.net works on windows 98?

Postby dandiodati on Tue Mar 15, 2005 7:16 am

I thought that .net install only supports windows 2000, 2003, and XP.
How can you be running windows 98?
