PPC and HeavyMetal skin

Postby qbnkiller on Wed Mar 09, 2005 3:03 am

...hi there. I have been toying around with XL and it is great! I just recently bought an iPAQ (3115) and am trying to get the client version to work. I followed the guide in the HELP section of the site, but when I click on the xlobby2sd file, I get the winblows flag (busy indicator) for a second, then nothing happens. I have installd the .net compact client, pulled over the server.txt and xlobby2sd file from the HTPC, went into F2 menu and started the server (says it is running on IP xxx.xxx.xxx.xx:PORT 8000). I configured the server.txt to reflect the IP of the server. Made sure that the server (HTPC) had firewall OFF ( it does)...but I just cant seem to get the damn thing to start on the iPAQ. This damn thing is soooooo cool!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

qbnkiller,

1 - Make sure the IP address in the xnet tab is yours. The xlobby.xml file has the ip address in it. I have had a problem with this.

2 - My servers.txt file looks like this - yours should be similar.

server:192.168.0.53
screen:ppcmenu
resolution:auto
bindbuttons:true
navigationpad:true
quality:100%
mimic:true
refresh:1000

Later
Simon.

qbnkiller,

I had this problem because I was using the old server.txt format of
server:192.168.x.x :ppcmenu

instead of

server:192.168.x.x
screen:menu
resolution:640x480
quality:95%
zone:2.

Try uninstalling .net, it is already included in the newer ppc OS.

...thanks...it was the syntax....the README!!!! file was still using the old syntax, and that was the issue.

Thanks again!
