Auto populate spider for music, DVD's?

Postby shmuck2002 on Wed Mar 30, 2005 1:33 am

Hi Guys, I have a fairly large MP3 and DVD collection running through my XL, and I really like having all of them with cover art.

I found how to manually select a cover for each album, but is there a way that i can select an individual spider, like Amazon, and have it automatically choose the cover for me, for my entire collection? I dont want to go through my 800+ albums and choose their individual covers!

It wouldnt be a big deal to then go back through and manually correct a handful of ones that perhaps chose the wrong cover, or one i didnt like. Can this be done?

thanks guys

Unfortunately this isn't possible right now.. I posted something like this in the feature requests section a while ago, but it never was real high on Stevens priority list I think.

LOL... well hopefully future generations won't have to fight the same tears we do!

So, how have you guys managed to correctly spider all your covers in? is there maybe an MP3 renamer program out there that i could use, then re-import my MP3 DB? what do you suggest?

If you rip your cd's with itunes it automaticly gets a thumbnail.
As for other mp3, spend some time directly on amazon.com and download the jpg.

Not found a quicker way than that.

I just used the db editor in xlobby.. highlighted which spider i wanted.. then went through each album... Takes a bit to do but is waaaaaaaay faster than going to amazon and manually saving each cover in each folder.

Meedio does this with a plugin, it was the only thing i liked about Meedio when i had a quick play. If Xlobby could do this as well it would be quite handy for the newbies...

i use Album cover art downloader (freeware) for all my music !
All your files must be in folders : go to Edit / Download missing cover images automatically
You can save the cover in the id3v2 tag of the mp3 files (the soft save the cover in each file in the same folder if you want)
I will try the new version 1.50

Thanks for the tip C-moi.

I used to use a freeware cover downloader program until that program became commercialized.

Here's a link to the download page for Album Cover Art Downloader to anyone that's interested:

Thanks for posting that Album Cover Downloader, I used it last night, it took about 4 hours to go through all my MP3 albums, and it got over 90% of the covers!! I then deleted my MP3 DB in xlobby and re-imported it, and viola, they're all there!!!! YEEEAAHHH!!! :D
