Help Needed!

Postby jazbo on Thu May 06, 2004 5:11 am

I have exactly the same problem as well, and have gone through numerous threads on the subject, but still no cigar... I will go through the steps and hope one of the experts here can point out what I did wrong or missed:

Using Alpha 40.2.14 and default skin.

1) On the movieviewer screen, the Play button is set to movies:play movie, which should launch zoomplayer and start the movie.
2) The movies:play movie event has the command "execute", the category is movies, nothing special here...Since the online DVD rips play just fine, I assume that the Play button is sending the correct command to zoomplayer to start the movie.
3) Under Setup/File Types, zoomplayer is enabled with the following:
Extensions: iso,avi,ifo
Command Line Switches: /f /%playlist%
Offline Event: movies:show offline message
Start Event: movies:load playlist
End Event: goto: goto movies
Category: left blank, not sure what it does here...
4) Verified in the movies database that offline DVDs have their Offline button checked.
5) Verified that the show offline message event work with Event Manager, ie, it showed the overlay and ejected the drive.

So how come nothing happens when the Play button is pressed for an offline DVD in the database?? As seperate experiment, I re-assign the Play button to autoplay:play dvd, which pops up a Play DVD screen, if I press the Play button here, the movie will start because this Play button is assigned to launch zoomplayer via the OS command. Which is what I thought the Setup/File Types does, ie, it acts as a link to the zoomplayer and passes the parameters from the database. May be someone can clarify all this for us...

Thanks in advance,
jazbo :(

Jsilva and Jazbo,
Installed a copy of pre14 then updated with pre16 on my test pc so I can replicate your setup. Tried to play around with offline movies and was able to get it to work by doing the steps below. This is on a the default skin.

1)First, I imported my movie database, then imported my dvdprofiler profile just using the "online" option.

2)File Type settings remain as the default. Just make sure that zoomplayer is installed at it's default directory. Since the database were all online, I made 1 movie offline by checking the box in the database editor.

3)Once I select that offline movie, the "moviesoffline" overlay would pop up and eject my drive. Make sure your dvd drive letter is set in the Event Manager under Show Offline Message>Eject otherwise, the drive won't eject.

4) Once I put and insert the disc, the "popupdvd" overlay will come up asking if you want to Play or Burn or Cancel. Now here's the fun part. By default, the play button is not associated with any event. Using the Movies>Play Movie event will not work here for some reason

So you need to go to the Event Manager, under Movies or anywhere you want, create a new event. You can name it Play DVD or whatever. Use the OS>Execute File for this event. Enter the path for the Zoomplayer exe. In Arguments, use this: /f F:\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO replacing F to what your DVD drive is. In Working Directory, just put in the root path for zoom ie. C:\Program Files\Zoom Player. Click on Add to add the new command. You need to add another command which is the "close overlay"command found under Xlobby. Once added, fire up your skin editor, goto screen popupdvd, assign the newly created event to the play button. Just tried it a couple of times now and it works.

Try it out and let us know.

Hi airpost
so what you are doing is just lauching the player with an exe event not by sending a message to zoom player ?

Exactly. Just using a regular OS execute command and pointing it to my dvd drive "F:\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO". Have you tried it yet?

Not sure what you meant. With that current setup, if you add the /f parameter in Arguments, it will launch Zoomplayer fullscreen after you press the play button. Additionally, you can set up Zoomplayer to save the last state it used (fullscreen).

The only thing I haven't tried is watch the whole dvd and see if Zoomplayer closes after the movie. You can use the /q parameter for this.

Is this what you mean?

AirPost,

You are the most helpful guy! Thanks again for getting us going. Yes, what you suggested is what got the offline DVDs to launch, I guess it is a work-around since the File Types configuration is suppose to take care of that. It is kind of silly for the popupdvd screen to get in the way, don't you think?! But hey, for a free program, who are we to complain... I am sure Steve will get around to fix this minor "feature" soon...

BTW, where do you get Pre 16? I can't seem to find the download link on the website...

Cheers,
jazbo

Glad I could help. Yeah, it is just a temporary workaround 'till the next fix from Steven.

The newest exe file is actually pre17 now. Here's the link:

I noticed the same problem with the newest builds. Worked fine until I upgraded to pre14. Hopefully Steven will fix this issue in the newest build.

Airpost:

this work fine with offline DVDs. I've tried to do the same with offline videos on CDs (knowing the videos might be .avi or .mpg and that these cds have varying folder structures). I don't know how I should change this:

In Arguments, use this: /f F:\VIDEO_TS\VIDEO_TS.IFO replacing F to what your DVD drive is.

And what about VCDs? Any hope?
