Good IR solution, LCD TV flooding IR

Postby billberet on Fri May 25, 2012 2:53 pm

hey, long time no talk, that's cause everything has been running smoothly.
:)

have a question regarding IR.
i have my touch screens set up everywhere but sometimes my wife wants to use the remote (god knows why, lol)
every ir solution i put around my tv gets flooded from the tv and i cannot use the remote, or any ir for that matter because the flooding is generating a DOS for all other IR's
(dos = denial of service) <- showing my geek

what would be a good IR solution that i can use that filters out whatever the TV is emitting.
tv is on 1st floor, XL is in basement. approx 20 ft
i'll need a good IR repeater to send the signal downstairs

tv is Vizio E552VLE 55-Inch 120 Hz Class LCD HDTV

is there really a "plasma proof ir receivers"?
or is that a myth
thanks again

Xantech makes some "plasma proof" ir receivers, but the ones I am familiar with are "in-wall" type. They may have others.....

What IR repeater system did you use. Where was the IR receiver located?

Placement of the IR Receiver does matter when used in the presence of a Plasma Display, LCD display. It should be placed at
areas around the Display with the front of the IR receiver even with the front of the display or set back from the Display.

You can use these Calrad products

i currently have it under the tv, but no matter where i put it i see the light flickering out of control, meaning it's getting a signal.
the only place it works is around the corner, out of the tv's range.

i'll look at the IR model i am using, i know it's not 'plasma safe' so it's getting flooded.

is calrad's IR good with LCD?
