Check word - rs232

Postby vaporhat on Sat Aug 23, 2008 5:32 pm

I am trying to calculate the check word for one of my components and can't seem to figure it out. I have the answer for a few commands, which helps, but I can 't seem to replicate the same answer.

The full command string is, On: 50 43 53 45 4E 44 02 04 80 70 C0 3F 40 4F the check word in bold, the information command underlined.

What pairs should I be adding to get the check word? and should I have my calculator set to byte or word?

Sorry I have not sent you the details or posted them here with calculating the checksum. If I have some time tonight I will post the details here on the forum.

Wes, thank you. tricky stuff.. not so intuitive.

For anyone else .. you can use the calculator in XP.

View - Scientific
Hex
Byte

for example: Power On 80 70 C0 3F

check word 1st (0x80 ^ 0xC0) = 0x40 type in the calc. 80+C0 Or = 40
check word 2nd (0x70 ^ 0x3F) = 0x4F 70+3F Or = 4F

The calculator in rs22 Analyzer is quicker if you have a long list to do: 80,C0, calculate

I will post up the full list of command when I am done in the rs-232 section.
