Unexpected shutdowns...

Postby Bill Lott on Thu Dec 31, 2009 1:46 pm

I'm having problems with xLobby shutting down unexpectedly. Sometimes xLobby will runs for day without issues, and other times it shuts down after only a few minutes. I have experimented with removing plug-ins but still have the issues. I have re-loaded xLobby and run the .net repairs. I do not see any error message before the shut downs occur. It happens regardless of which screen I'm in.

Looking for ideas on where and what to look for as a cause...

Thanks
Bill Lott

Bill,

When you say xLobby shuts down, does the whole machine shutdown or does xLobby just close with no error messages and your at the windows desktop ?

xLobby just closes with no error messages. All other computer programs are OK. The computer itself does not shut down.

Bill,

Does it do this on a specific menu or is there anything else you can elaborate on. Any custom triggers or other time events running.

Menus or screens don't seem to make any difference. It normally happens during idle times. It is not caused by pressing any buttons or screen changes. I don't think I have any triggers running. I have tried a couple different skins (including default) and problem still occurs. very strange....

Just turned on the logging function. I will attach anything I see next time xLobby shuts down unexpectedly.

you'll need to get the latest bleeding edge build, reason being, I had to make a "log to file" option so that if it does crash you have a log of what recently happened in a txt file.

I too have been having some stability issues with the latest build. I have not been able to figure out where the conflict is. I will turn on the log file to help get to the bottom of this.

I wasn't sure if it had something to do with my NAS HDD's spinning down, or some other software on my PC. It's not every day or week. It's seems random at the moment. Or at least until I can tie it back to an event.
