Thin client xlobby2sd not working

Postby loch on Tue May 05, 2009 1:46 pm

Has anyone tried xlobby2sd.exe with a recent 3.0 build?

I finally took the plunge and updated from 2.0 to 3.0 and can not get my thin client to connect. I have tried the 5/1, 4/17 and 2/28 builds and none of them connect. I have tried running xlobby2sd from a pocket PC and from a regular desktop computer.

The xnet setup page shows that the server is running. I did a wireshark ethernet sniffer trace, and I see that the my PC is connecting to the port on the xlobby server and sends 19 bytes of data which is the resolution requested. The server then closes the socket and the xlobby2sd executable exits.

Thanks
Andrew

Damn, I guess I missed that point.
Is the web interface then the only option for interfacing via a Pocket PC?

Thanks

Yes, unless you can stuff another licensed XL into it.

I tried the web browser with my pocket pc and that doesn't seem to work well either. It appears that setting the screen size and default startup screen isn't currently functioning. I searched the forum and saw other people complaining about it a few months ago and was hoping it was fixed.

Oh well...I guess it is back to XLobby 2.0 for me. 50% of the time I am using my pocketPC to control the system and that functionality is necessary for me.

The webserver screen size cannot be customized yet its in mantis...we did not know about the default screen issue though, the old xlobby2sd.exe is toast and it doesnt work like it use to because of the new xnet stuff in V3, at the moment we have no plans on fixing that up any time soon because the webserver can serve as a replacement. Very few people use xlobby2sd.exe.To get independent web clients working multiple instances of xlobby must be run, this was the way it basically use to work. And each webclient would connect to its own instance of xlobby.

if u use internet explorer 7 or 8 u can zoom to the screen size u want. Works pretty well.

To bad webclient cannot open overlay automatically. This means if the server opens a overlay it will not show on the webclient and the end user have no clue whats going on. me personally think this is a show stopper, what do u think?

The old client was super great since
* worked on old old computers
* worked on compact framework devices
* faster than he**
* worked
