Xlobby plugin development

Not Quite there yet!

Postby Bill Lott on Tue May 10, 2005 2:49 am

I'm attemptinng to control lights in the house via Homeseer/xap/xLobby.

I have followed the install and have Homeseer plugin, GUI Hub, and xLobby plugin installed. The hub sees activities from both.

If I select "Actions on receipt" within the xLoby plugin I get windows opening within xLobby showing Homeseer activities so I know there is a connection between xlobby and Homesser, but I can't get any actions from xlobby to work with Homeseer.

Under the events tab I have created an event called ceiling light On and configured it as follows:
Plugin: xAP-Xlobby
Command: Basic Control: On
Variables: Hallways.light

When I run this I see the folowing in the GUI Hub:
xap-header
{
v=12
hop=1
iuid=FFABCD00
class=xAPBSC.cmd
source=PTrinchi.Xlobby.homeseer
target=mi4.homeseer.*.*:Hallways.Light
}
id=*
state=On
}

Nothing happens within Homeseer. There is nothing in the HS event log

My device is light under the location of hallways.

If I turn the light on within Homeseer, I get a popup window in xlobby that says

xap-header
{
v=12
hop=1
iuid=FF411904
class=xAPBSC.event
source=mi4.homeseer.homeseer.H:Hallways.Light
}
state:ON
level=100/100
}

I'm probably doing something stupid or have omitted something. Please let me know if I have omitted something.

THANKS!!!![/img]

Bill,

I can't answer your question but did you have any problems getting XLobby to see the plugin? I tried it last night and couldn't get XL to see it at all!

No problems on the xlobby side - my problems seem to exist on the Homeseer side.

Make sure you copy the plug-in to the plugins subdirectory and reload xLobby afterwards. Whe you reload - you should see the plug-in.

I'm making progress. xlobby both receives and transmits OK to the GUI hub. Unfortunately, I can't get Homesser to receive commands - only send. I'm still working on it - I'm sure its something simple that I've omitted or configured incorrectly.

After much trial and error I have found the problem and am able to get Homeseer and xLobby to communicate. I can now control house lighting with xLobby!!

But, I still have a problem. I know the issue - I just don't know how to fix it.

In the xLobby plug-in setup Configuration screen setting General Tab Box of Destination Address for x10 Command if I use "mi4.homeseer.homeseer.H" it works! (H4 is x10 address of the Hallways Upstairs light I'm trying to control) Using the "H: is the answer - before I was trying to use a default of "Master" instead of "H".

Now here's my problem. I have over 100 devices on all different house codes. Although using the destination address of "mi4.homeseer.homeseer.H" fixes my problems for "H" house codes, how do I setup the destination address to allow for other house codes??????????

I'm getting excited again...

It Works!

mi4.homeseer.homeseer.* - works for all housecodes.

Thanks for the great plugin. Now I can have the best of both worlds. Can't wait to get started tweaking a couple skins for the home theater that include lighting and Homeseer events!

If anyone has a skin with Xap light toggles or images that are updated from Homeseer, I would love to learn how you're doing this. mailto:lottbill@bellsouth.net if you could email your skin.

THANKS AGAIN!
