visual idiots guide to xmoviewindows please?!

Postby Grooby on Sat Apr 09, 2005 11:57 am

Hello

I am after a guide with screenshots explaining exactly how to set up this plugin using winamp, milkdrop, windows player classic, so it appears as a small window within my music player screen.

Please write it like ur describing it to a 5 year old...i wont take offence, i promise!!!

Screenshots would be greatly appreciated of where i need to enter text and what that text should be.

I note quite a few of you are using this plugin, and i would greatly appreciate your time to help me with this.

Thanks
Andy   :?:

Not sure at what point of the setup you are now but here is a quick checklist:
1)Install Milkdrop plugin (I'm using version 1.04)
2)Configure the Milkdrop plugin - In the Common Settings tab, under Windowed settings, make sure that the option "integrate with winamp" is uncheck (this is important). If you have a slow pc or graphics card, you can also check "Allow page tearing".
3)Setup your page where you want to show the visualization window by:
a] creating a text box using "plugin>XMoveWindow>MilkDrop"
b] on the ID for that text box, enter "name of your screen_MilkDrop"
c] create a button using the "start visualization" event. (found under the
music command.
*Visualization can be turned off by sending the same event. Also, if you notice on a and b above, I'm using the name Milkdrop because that is the classname that is showing on my system. If it doesn't work, use Girder or another program to find out what classname Milkdrop is using on your system.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it turns out.

success!!

one quick question, MilkDrop opens for a fraction of a second in its own window before it opens in the XMove window...is this normal?

i've a P4 3.2 but MilkDrop still runs a bit slow, any tips for speeding its performance?

Thanks
Andy

Yes, XMoveWindow has an internal timer of 1 sec. So it can take 1 sec to take ownership of the window
